Van Fielden, Pastor 
I love being Vista's pastor. What a privilege. I have been a pastor for the past twenty-five years, the first ten years as a youth pastor, and the last fifteen years as a church-planting pastor. Along the way as I've helped start new churches. I've also worked "real" jobs from carpentry to commission sales. I have served in churches from a variety of Christian traditions which brings a balanced, interdenominational approach to my teaching and ministry. I have been Vista's pastor since March of 1999.
My primary responsibilities are as teaching pastor, and point leader for our Vista Groups and Leadership Team. I love creating a relaxed, straightforward, and unpretentious atmosphere for teaching God's Word. I am committed to keeping my messages biblical, personal, practical and encouraging. My heart's desire is to "connect people with God in Jesus Christ." My wife, Deb, and I have three mostly grown children; Bekah, Hannah and Jon who are the joy of our lives.

What a privilege for me to be at Vista. My wife, Jill and I served 15 years with the JESUS Film Project, a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, before coming on staff with Vista Church by God's call. We had been members of the body at Vista for many years,but in 2005 I sensed God asking me to change our ministry direction and serve at Vista full time. As a family we have been fed, nurtured, motivated and challenged by our being connected to God in this place. We have experienced community in ways we never thought possible.
Now it is our heart to see our lives and ministry at Vista be spent towards helping others be connected to God in new and deeper ways. My wife is the light of my life along with our three young children -Emily, Connor, and Kaley.

I love people; meeting them, talking to them, inviting, including, and leading them to Jesus. As Vista’s Connection Ministry Director I get to do just that. It is tough being new to town or to a church. My job is to help you become a part of Vista and feel at home here.
As Vista’s Children’s Director I get a chance to love on kids; a real passion of mine. I was seven when my first nephew was born. I went on to college to earn a degree in education. I’ve done some full time teaching in public and private school and a lot of subbing. Van and I have three grown children of our own. I’ve always been very involved with Van in ministry. Kids energize me. I am always looking for others who love children’s ministry and will join me in this area.

My husband Joel and I and our daughters Shelby and Kasey have been part of Vista since 2001. We took a short two and a half year move to Washington but have since returned to our Vista family and have loved being here.
As part of my job to “get the word out” about what’s happening at Vista and to coordinate the calendar for the year I have great appreciation for the vision we have “To Connect People With God”. I have the privilege of using my creative bent in doing stage and facility design as well. Communicating the love of God takes many different forms and I am thankful for the opportunity to use these ministries as a way of gathering others to Vista in deep and meaningful ways.
