Note from Pastor Van

Hey Vista Church Family!

This is the weekend! We’ve been praying all fall and preparing for our “Celebrate Generosity” Sunday and it’s finally here.  This Sunday will be an opportunity for us to celebrate, pray, and combine our resources together to see what God will do!  Here are a few questions people have asked that I want to answer as we get prepared for the weekend. Please read through these so you are ready for this Sunday!

Q: Why does making a pledge matter?

A: Our pledges matter because it gives our leadership team a sense of what our current financial capacity is for upcoming projects and opportunities.  We realize life happens.  This pledge is simply our best understanding of God’s leading and our heart’s desire to bless our community through Vista and Nona Church. Our pledges enable us to let Nona Church know how much we will be able to help them in their land search.

Q: Will I be expected to make a financial gift this weekend?  When can we start making financial contributions?

You will not be expected to make a financial contribution this weekend but you can if you choose. You can begin donating towards your pledge in 2017 to take advantage of charitable contributions for the 2017 tax year.

Simply write CELEBRATE GENEROSITY in the memo line of a personal check and deposit it into the wooden boxes at the back of the auditorium. If you would like to give online, you can do so by visiting www.VistaChurch.com, selecting the “give” tab and following the prompts under CELEBRATE GENEROSITY.  You can also set up recurring giving from this site as well.

Our CELEBRATE GENEROSITY offering is intended for gifts above and beyond our regular giving and will be identified on your commitment card. The CELEBRATE GENEROSITY Initiative is scheduled to conclude on December 31st, 2018.

Q: Is there a specific goal for this offering?

A: Yes!  Our goal is “100%.”  We want 100% of our faith family who call Vista Church home to pray, listen, and obey God as we give.

Q: How will pledges be gathered? Will I be expected to come forward or anything like that?

A: At a certain point in our gathering, we will fill out our commitment card.  We’ve redesigned them to have a tab for you to keep for your records.  We will fold the cards in half and pass them to the ushers.  Your commitment is between you and God. We will work to ensure your privacy in the process.

Q: I’m new to Vista and not sure if I am ready to make a pledge.  What should I do with my commitment card? Should I even come this Sunday?

A:  This Sunday is absolutely for you. The rest of our gathering will function as normal.

Q: Who will know how much I pledge financially?  Will this be public knowledge?

A: Two of our regular well-vetted “counters” who record our offerings each week will collect and record our pledges.   Our accounting firm will be aware of amounts for financial and tax benefit purposes.

Q: We’re so disappointed we can’t make this Sunday’s event.  How can we indicate our commitment, so it can be included in the total amount?

A: We will have pledge cards available at the Welcome Center through the month of December.  If you cannot join us this Sunday, just pick up a card, fill it out and drop it in the wooden boxes in the back of the auditorium.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email Van@VistaChurch.com!

We can’t wait to see you this Sunday!

God Bless,

Pastor Van & Deb
